District 24

District 24 stretches across a densely populated section of Queens that is home to many new immigrants. Neighborhoods in the district include Corona, Glendale, Ridgewood, Elmhurst, Long Island City, Maspeth and Middle Village. Overcrowding persists across the district despite the opening of several new schools in recent years.

Most students attend their zoned elementary and middle schools. Several schools have Spanish/English dual-language programs.

Families looking for elementary school options beyond their zoned school can apply to G&T programs and two schools that have districtwide admissions: PS 110 and A.C.E. Academy for Scholars.

There are two charter schools that serve middle school grades: Central Queens Academy and Middle Village Prep.

The highly selective Bard Early College-Queens and popular Aviation High School are among the high schools located in this district.
